Abstract Photography
All these photos are of water.
I look for images in reflections on the surface of water. Although the dreamlike designs are reminiscent of modern abstract paintings, they are entirely real. The effect is achieved by a combination of ripples in the water, the angle of light, water clarity, and other naturally occurring factors.
If the viewer takes into account the original object being reflected, the photos are documentary; taken on their own, they’re non-representational. The difference lies in how we see.
No oils or digital touch-ups are used; the process begins and ends organically with the art created around us by nature.
